This pandemic has placed additional burden on many families, whose parents need childcare to be able to work. Brightling is proud to be one of the childcare facilities in Winnipeg that is equipped with the facilities, the protocols, and the professional staff to continue providing care for families throughout this ongoing pandemic.
Part of the reason we’ve been able to keep the virus at bay is our strict measures to keep everyone at Brightling as safe as possible. This includes requiring anyone who is ill, or who has a reasonable chance of being ill, to stay away from the Centre. Children who are registered in child care centres in Manitoba cannot attend if they show signs of illness or if any family members living in their household are ill.
If the child is ill:
Any child showing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 (fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, runny nose, poor feeding in infants) cannot return to the Centre until parents have contacted HealthLinks at 204-788-8200 or 1-888-315-9257 and followed their direction.
If someone else in the home is ill:
If anyone in the child’s home has COVID-19-like symptoms during the Province of Manitoba’s “red” response level, the entire household should isolate until receiving negative test results. This includes keeping the child home from daycare until we can be certain there’s no risk of spreading the virus.
Brightling Childcare Academy is located on Treaty 1 territory and the traditional homeland of the Metis Nation. We respectfully acknowledge the Indigenous ancestors of this land, and affirm our commitment to creating an equitable community on it.
