Brightling Childcare Academy’s Infant Program provides a flexible, warm, and safe environment in which our youngest children (ages 1-2) can learn and grow.

As they become more comfortable with their caregiver, they begin to explore their environment and discover opportunities to enhance their language, physical and social skills – the foundations for bigger things to come.

Our Infant Program days are nothing if not stimulating. They often include

  • Dancing to a variety of music
  • Playing in the gym
  • Exploring the outdoors
  • Story time
  • Singing songs
  • Discovering and exploring materials
  • Engaging in activities and adventures

Our Brightling Childcare Academy staff keep parents “in the loop” about their infants’ day through traditional and innovative communication tools.

Preschoolers have endless curiosity and capacity to learn. That developing “mind of their own” that sometimes makes it tough to get out of the house on time is a signal of their readiness to begin making decisions – and at Brightling Childcare Academy, we indulge that emerging independence with a range of educational activities.

Messy crafts, yoga classes, an erupting volcano, silly dance parties… each experience develops the child’s understanding of themselves and the world around them, while engaging their creativity and encouraging self-expression.

Brightling Childcare Academy has four bright and inviting preschool classrooms that provide a welcoming world of discovery for children aged 2 to 5.

Within each of these Reggio-inspired classrooms, a team of nurturing educators has developed an environment and activities that support the ever-changing interests of the preschoolers within their care.

We keep parents in-the-loop about their children’s daily activities through traditional and innovative communication tools.

Early Learning Academy

Brightling Childcare Academy bridges the gap between the early learning years and a child’s future schooling through our Early Learning Academy. Here, we conduct pre-K programming throughout the school year for our “aspiring big kids”: registered preschoolers who are 4 to 5 years old and will be entering Kindergarten the following fall.

In our Early Learning Academy, Brightling’s Early Learning Educator engages small groups of children to help develop their cognitive, fine motor, literacy, and math skills.

The children’s time in this special classroom is filled with interactive experiences and hands-on activities that spark their desire to learn – and build a strong sense of confidence as they prepare to enter Kindergarten.

Since Kindergarten programs only run for a few hours each day, Brightling Childcare Academy provides a continuum of care for Kindergarten students.

Kindergarten Program parents drop their children at our Centre in the morning, and we provide programming and care for all parts of the day their children aren’t in school. We are also pleased to offer childcare on all school closure days throughout the year. We provide transportation to and from certain schools within our community, and our Centre is located on some Pembina Trails School Division bus routes.

During their time at our Centre, kindergarten children engage in learning opportunities that support their natural curiosities, creativity and imagination, in our Reggio-inspired classrooms.

These include:

  • Art
  • Science
  • Literacy
  • Drama
  • Music
  • Physical activity

As the children mature, our Kindergarten Program also provides opportunities to build social skills and awareness, leading to new friendships both in and out of school.

School Age

Children in grades one through six enjoy a dynamic program at Brightling Childcare Academy, specifically designed for their ages, experiences and interests. Our before-and-after school program offers a place where fun and learning go hand-in-hand.

We combine socializing, blowing off steam, exploring creative expression, and experiential learning to provide enriching and fun activities every day. Whether they’re into a busy game of hockey, building the world’s greatest fort, or an intricate art project, our children are always growing and sharing. We supplement our in-house expertise and resources with uncommon learning experiences, off-site adventures, special guests, outdoor play, and community involvement.

We offer transportation for our School Age Program children to and from certain schools within our community, and our Centre is located on some Pembina Trails School Division bus routes. We are also pleased to offer childcare on all school closure days throughout the year.
