Every year, the holiday season brings me a feeling of combined nostalgia and gratitude.

Of course, I get into holiday gift-giving. But the overriding feeling that characterizes the holidays for me is how incredibly lucky I am: to have a loving family, and to spend my days working to build happy little humans who will go out and do good in our world.

I’m a natural builder, and Brightling has given me the gift of an incredible platform to build on.

What began as a small baby-care facility 20 years ago has grown into a multi-classroom centre offering professional care and learning tailored to children up to age 12. We have developed Brightling’s own pedagogical method, pulling the best elements of established approaches and delivering them with our whole-child values.

We’ve designed an indoor and outdoor environment and culture that celebrate diversity, curiosity, creativity, and kindness. We’ve assembled a professional staff that understands how caring inspires learning, and that approaches every interaction with a child from the child’s own perspective.

Just this year, we introduced a Junior Kindergarten enrichment program to help fill a gap early-years teachers had identified, to ensure our kiddos begin their scholastic careers on solid footing.

And I’m proud that in 2022, we will be launching another specialized offering. We are developing it now, in collaboration with educational and mental health experts, and it will meet a need many families struggle with. In this program, though, we’ll be working with parents.

I’ll say no more for now, and will share the details when we get closer to launch.

But my holiday message to our parents is this: we’ve got your back. We are your partners in building your children’s knowledge, skills, emotional growth and social development… and we’re here for you, too.

Families, friends, community… these connections are the gifts that matter. Maybe I’m sounding corny, but you’ll have to forgive me that – it’s the holidays. But corny or not, it’s true. And I can’t wait to exchange these gifts with you in the new year.

Warmest wishes to you for 2022,

Karolina Dressler
